Dr. Melsa Ararat obtained his B.Sc. from Middle East Technical University, Department of Chemical Engineering in 1976, M.Sc. in Thermodynamics  from Ege University in 1984, and Ph.D. in Organization and Strategy from Istanbul University  in 1992. She had an international career in professional management in Türkiye, Asia-Pacific, Japan and Europe until 2002 after when she joined Sabancı University, Faculty of Management. She taught Strategic Management, Corporate Governance and Business Ethics courses in Sabancı University until 2021 and served as the Founding Director of Corporate Governance Forum. She was a visiting professor in Groningen University Faculty of Economics and Business between 2025-2021, supervising thesis in international financial management. Dr Ararat has also been a consultant to international development banks in the area of Corporate Governance and Sustainable Investments. Her research focuses on corporate governance, business ethics and sustainability with a focus on emerging economies and family ownership.
